Newton’s Second Law of Motion
If we want to change the motion, we push on it (that is, apply forces).
Newton states this in his Second Law of Motion: The resultant force (vector sum of the individual forces) on an object causes the object to accelerate in the same direction as the resultant force and in inverse proportion to the mass of the object:
