Moment of Inertia
Things that have most of their mass in the center have smaller moments of inertia than things that have most of their mass on the outside. Using the calculus, we can derive nice formulas for the moment of inertias of certain shapes: Iring = MR2
Isphere = (2/5)MR2; Icylinder = (1/2)MR2 .
