Parallel Plate Capacitor
For this parallel plate capacitor, the capacitance is related to charge and voltage (C = Q/V), but the actual capacitance depends on the size and shape:
Cparallel plate = K A / (4 p k d)
where K (called dielectric constant) depends on the material between the plates, A is the area of each plate, d is the distance between the plates, and k is Coulomb’s constant (9 x 109 Nt-m2 / Coul2).
