Nuclear reactions like the preceding one happen very quickly, so this process could conceivably be (and has been) used in a bomb!
The amount of energy coming from one fission is about 200 MeV, while the amount of energy coming from converting C + O2 to CO2 is about 2 eV - a difference of a factor of 100 million!
