Power Reactors
The cross sections (?) for neutron reactions are different for fast neutrons coming directly from the fission process than they are for the neutrons after they have slowed down to normal speeds (called thermal neutrons). This allows the uranium in ore (99.3% U-238, 0.7% U-235) to be used in a reactor for power, although not for a bomb.
