The sun “burns” hydrogen to make helium. What happens when the sun runs out of hydrogen?
Can the sun “burn” helium to make heavier elements? YES, but it needs to be hotter, which it can become by using gravity to shrink its inside but expand its outside - out past the orbit of Venus. This will make the sun a red giant star.
