in the newly renovated Student Dining Hall. April 17 (Tuesday) The 11th Annual CBU Student Research Poster Session was held
in the recently remodeled Sabatini Lounge (formerly called the East Lounge). April 17 (Tuesday) This year CBU served as a test center for the Tennessee Mathematics Teachers’ Association (TMTA) high school math contest. April 14 (Saturday) The Thirty-Eigth Annual Competitive Examination in High School Chemistry
and the Twenty-Second Annual Local Examination for the Chemistry Olympiad was held at CBU on Saturday, April 14. Analice Hosey Sowell, Chemistry
alum 2002, served as the Committee Chair for this event. CBU and the Memphis Section of the American Chemical Society sponsored the event. April 11 (Wednesday) The 7th Annual Charity Vollyball Game
was held. Three student teams and a faculty team competed. Student team C won with the faculty team coming in second. March 24 (Saturday) The Tennessee Academy of Sciences Collegiate Division,
Western Regional Meeting was hosted by LeMoyne-Owen College, Memphis, TN. CBU had 17 students present papers and won 3 of the 4 sessions that our
students participated in. March 19-22 The Memphis and Shelby County Science Fair was held across the street at the Fairgrounds. Br. Kevin Ryan is the director. March 4-10 Spring Break! Science Center, Southern College of Optometry, and the medical scholarship
programs were available to answer questions.
Thursday, August 15, the academic year started with the third
annual Excellence
in Teaching Conference .
On Tuesday, April 16, CBU held its 6th annual Student
Research Poster Session.
On April 7, CBU held a reception for prospective students. (See picture to the left.)
On April 4-6, the biology department held is annual field trip to the Gulf Coast Research Lab.

On Sept. 18, we had the second annual "YOUTH & VITALITY VS. OLD AGE AND DECEIT" Charity Basketball Game. This is a charity basketball game between members of the Sciences' student discipline groups and members of the Sciences' faculty. Proceeds went to the Red Cross to help in the relief efforts in wake of the terrorist attack. The picture on the right shows Dr. Becker (Math) shooting against a tough student defense.
The faculty in the School of Sciences held a Welcome Back Reception for students from 2:30 to 4:30 on Friday, August 24, 2001.
Beginning the 2001-2002 academic year on August 16, CBU had the second CBU Excellence in Teaching Conference. See pictures from the first year's conference.
