Fundamentals of Physical Science Laboratory

Catalog Data Laboratory to accompany NSCI 118.
Prerequisite: Math 105. Corequisite: Natural Science 118.
One semester; one credit.
Textbooks Physical Science Laboratory Manual to Accompany Krauskopf-Beiser: The Physical Universe; Samec, et. al.; McGraw-Hill, 1991 (6th ed.)
Calculator Policy A calculator is required for the course.
Prerequisites The student should be familiar with basic algebra techniques such as solving for unknown variables.
Goals
  1. Introduce the student to the scientific method and techniques of measurement and scientific investigation.
  2. Explore the relationship between scientific laws and everyday life.

Syllabus
Lab meetings will be held every other week. The experiments performed are listed below.

Final Exam There is no final exam in the course.
Performance Evaluation Student performance is rated by a final letter grade which is determined by seven written lab reports.
Resources The course instructor is available outside of the classroom a minimum of 10 hours per week for individual help.
The Math Center offers free tutoring in algebra.
Attendance You must attend class regularly.
