Izzy,
the Turkish Van cat
She joined the household on November 15,
2003. She's not a replacement for Puff -- but she has a loving
personality all her own. She's playful and affectionate, and, as
are all Turkish Vans, beautiful. Note
her eyes -- one gold, the other blue. Izzy came to us from Caravanserai
Turkish Van Cats; she is a cat of some
breeding She has attended many cat shows, under her
"legal" name Caravanserai Eowyn (her father, Fred, was
officially Wishnwhisker Lord-of-The-Rings) She has been very
successful, and had the title Grand
Premier. In her last
show season (2003-2004), she was the #8 kitten in the country and
the #4 Premier Class (neutered cats). But,
is Izzy really Armenian??? |

Charlotte Louise,
The Fat Cat
Charlotte Louise was rescued from
the pound in November of 2001; she was probably about 6 months
old. How she ended going home with me is a bit unusual. I
was looking at the various cats available for adoption, and
noticed a grey kitten asleep by herself in a corner. So, I
walked over and patted the kitten, who promptly woke up and jumped on my
shoulder. There was no choice but to pay the $46 and take her home
-- she wasn't letting go ! Obviously, Charlotte had her eyes
opened and had figured out what her options were at the pound (not
good....).

Elvis came to live with me in the summer of 2002, at
the ripe age of 16. His original home was with my younger sister,
who realized that one child and a cat would work, but not two children
and a cat. She asked me if I'd be willing to give the King a home,
which I was delighted to do.
For the first 3 or 4 months, I'd put down food, which
disappeared, but no cat emerged. Finally, I found him (or at least
two eyes, glowing with malevolence) in the rafters of the garage.
Then, one morning about 7 am (the crack of dawn), I
heard yowling at the front door. Elvis had decided to rejoin the
world, beginning with setting expectations for breakfast time. We
compromised -- Elvis learned to eat breakfast at a civilized hour (9
am), and I began to crack open a can of Fancy Feast every day.
Pretty soon, he started to meet me in the driveway in
the evenings and walk me to the front door.

Just this side of heaven is a place
called Rainbow Bridge. |
 |
| When
an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special
friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water
and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are
restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole
and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times
gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day
comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes
are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the
group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and
faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your
special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never
to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again
caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of
your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
