This year 72 students took the two hour exam, had lunch in the cafeteria, and toured the chemistry laboratories where demonstrations were set up. On April 30, the Top 20 students, their parents, and their high school chemistry teachers attended a luncheon at Schering-Plough. The Top 20 students received plaques, with the Top 3 getting checks from the Memphis Chemical Assoication. Each teacher received a marble pen set as an Inspirational Chemistry Teacher for 1998. The competition is also sponsored by the Memphis Section of the American Chemical Society and area chemical companies.
