Design a Test Problem

Extra Credit Assignment

You can earn extra credit by designing test problems of your own.

Each problem will be worth up to 10 points added to your "test" total.

The Assignment: Design or invent a problem suitable for use on a test or extended homework assignment for this class. The problem must test the concepts used in the class and be at a suitable difficulty level.

The problem must not be a mere rehash of a homework or test problem previously assigned. Try to come up with something that is "different". You might try to:

BE CREATIVE and have fun.

Each submission must include three separate parts.

  1. One clear copy of the problem suitable for distribution to the class.
  2. A fully worked out solution of your problem. Include all relevant formulas, data, and explanations.
  3. An explanation of what makes the problem suitable for a test in this class. This should answer questions like:
All three parts must be submitted. If ANY PART is missing, NO credit will be awarded.

Grading: Grading on this assignment will be very subjective. Best scores typically go to problems that I enjoy reading and those that are unique. Problems need to hold together -- hand waving hurts.

Really good problems have been known to show up on future exams ...
