There are a number of basic formulas from algebra, trigonometry, etc. that show up in engineering calculations. As a rule, these aren't given to you -- you are expected to know (or be able to find) them. A few of these will be quickly reviewed here.
You often need to calculate the cross-sectional or surface area or volume
of cylindrical, spherical, or conical tanks.
You'll also need to remember the Pythagorean Theorem for right triangles, and probably also the basic trigonometric relations for triangles.
