Solid particles and liquid droplets that are so small that they are suspended by air currents.
Derived from combustion of fossil fuels, or from agricultural activities, such as plowing, cultivating, harvesting.
Fine particulates cause respiratory disease by overwhelming the lungs’ ability to cleanse themselves. There may be direct poisoning if particles contain lead.
