Polychaete reproduction
Most polychaetes are gonochoristic, i.e., they have separate sexes.
Gametes are produced in peritoneal tissue, rather than in distinct gonads, and are then released into the associated coelomic compartments, where they mature.
Some families undergo epitoky, a form of differentiation for sexual reproduction.
