What do we find when we sequence DNA?
Functional genes
Promoter regions: Non-transcribed regions the precede an exon which provide a "running start" for RNA polymerase
Control genes: Genes which control or activate other genes. They may serve as homeoboxes, which control the expression of groups of genes in sequence. For example, the genes which control eye development are under the control of a homeobox.
Single nucleotide polymorphisms: Single base pairs which show polymorphism, which may be useful in taxonomic or forensic work.
"Junk": which probably means DNA for which we do not know its function
