The other major factor in the study of demography is the birth rate

The transition from a society with high birth & death rates to low birth & death rates is called the demographic transition.

Sweden represents a MDC, while Mexico represents a LDC. Note that the rate of increase in Mexico far exceeds that of Sweden.

This phenomenon, of LDC’s being “stuck” in stage II of the demographic transition, is resulting in a population explosion in the developing world.
