Geographical location:     Tropical and subtropical areas of

                                      the New World.

 

Organs affected:             Skin

 

Symptoms and clinical signs:            Rose-colored papules and stinging pain at site of bites.

 

Diseases transmitted:              Leishmania donovani, Leishmania braziliensis, sandfly fever (viral), and Bartonellosis (bacterial).

 

Treatment/control:                            Residual insecticides.
