Brother Louis Althaus, FSC was born on November 22, 1931 in Mundelein, Illinois. He attended St. George High School in Evanston and entered the Brothers in 1949. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University in Minnesota and his master’s and doctorate in engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He came to CBU in 1960 and has since taught engineering courses, served as head of the Electrical Engineering Department, VP for Academic Affairs, Assistant Dean and Dean of Students, and other numerous administrative positions. Brother Louis has also served on the Board of Trustees of CBU and on many committees and councils over the years. Among his honors he received the Alumni Award in 1993 and, at the time of his retirement in 2014, he was named Professor Emeritus. His service to CBU of 54 years is the longest in the history of the University.
