Outreach not only helps us recognize, recruit, and retain the next classes of CBU students, but also enriches the community both within and beyond our campus. Outreach initiatives include:
• A Project-Based Learning teaching methodology in the Department of Education, offered in collaboration with CBU’s Schools of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering, and in concert with local education reformers. This innovative teaching methodology will better equip undergraduate and graduate-level teachers in K-12 schools.
• A STEM Center for Women and Diversity will conduct motivational outreach activities for middle and high school girls; help recruit undergraduate female engineering students; establish community collaborations related to women in STEM; provide professional development opportunities for current female CBU engineering students; and host a Future Women Engineers summer program for high school students.
• A Center for Executive and Entrepreneurial Leadership developed by alumni of CBU’s School of Business in collaboration with faculty, business, and nonprofit leaders. The Center will provide degree and non-degree programs to improve the entrepreneurial spirit of our community, encouraging CBU graduates and other Memphians to launch companies and build the local economy.
