CELEBRATING A NEW PRESIDENT

During the week of September 29 - October 5, Christian Brothers University celebrated the inauguration of Jack Shannon as our 23rd president. Members from all parts of the CBU community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends—joined together for various events to welcome President Shannon to the CBU family.

Campus Mass and S’mores with the Shannons

The campus community celebrated Mass at 9:00 p.m. in Stritch Chapel, followed by s’mores and fellowship at the Living Learning Center.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1

Memphis, CBU, and Shannon Family Trivia Night

The CBU Community joined in to test their knowledge of Memphis, CBU, and our new first family, the Shannons. Pirate booty was awarded to the top three crews and the team with the best table décor. 


WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2

CBU Day of Service

In the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle, the CBU Community spent time giving back to others during this week of celebration.

Buccaneer Bash

The CBU student community gathered on Nolan Field for dinner and our inaugural Buccaneer Battle to honor Captain Jack Shannon!

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3

Festival of Ideas

12:15-2:00 p.m. in the University Theater

This exciting CBU community academic event that featured music, food, and a short program of eight CBU faculty members giving brief but dynamic presentations that demonstrate how CBU is moving its academic fields and its students in an exciting direction — from creative teaching to groundbreaking research and meaningful community engagement.


FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4

Celebratory Mass and Installation Ceremony

All afternoon classes were cancelled, and the CBU Community joined the Christian Brothers, diginitaries from other universities, and the Memphis community for Mass and the official inauguration of President Shannon at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.


SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5

Bell Tower Gala

A special celebration held at the Guest House at Gracelad to honor the Inauguration of our 23rd president, Mr. John T. (Jack) Shannon.
