An education in Literature & Languages prepares you for a wide variety of career paths.
Many of our graduates work in the fields of education, publishing, advertising, library science, banking, marketing, technical writing, and service with non-profit organizations. The common link between these various career choices is the ability to think critically, engage with complex problems and be able to communicate ideas in clear, articulate manner. Your CBU education will prepare you for these important traits.
Many of our recent alumni have entered law school and graduate programs in English and other fields at schools including the following:
- University of Tennessee (law school)
- University of Mississippi (English)
- University of Oregon (law school)
- University of South Florida (English)
- University of Memphis (law school, English creative writing, journalism)
- Columbia College Chicago (creative writing)
- Christian Brothers Univeristy (education/teaching)
All of our 2018 graduates who applied to law school or graduate school in English had multiple acceptances from which they could choose. They also received competitive funding offers. Our individualized approach to academic advising will help guide students through the graduate school application process.
Diverse coursework and internships prepare our students for their individual post-CBU goals. We're big enough to help you get where you want to go and small enough to customize your education and capstone experience to your needs.
If you have questions about the professional options you have as an English & Languages students, please do not hesitate to contact your advisor, a member of our Faculty, or the CBU Career Center.
