Residence Life Information

There are certain times throughout the year where our residence halls will close for fall, Christmas, and spring breaks. Additional fees will be assessed should students stay during these periods in extraordinary circumstances.

Rules and Regulations: As a CBU student, you are required to adhere to the policies and procedures in the student handbook found online. New students will be introduced to the handbook during the first week of classes. Returning students are encouraged to review the document for any additions or changes

Fines: At check-in, students will receive a “Room Condition Report,” herein referred to as an RCR. The student will have the opportunity to verify the RCR completed by residence hall staff and list any additional concerns. Students will be responsible for any damage or non-reported items on the RCR’s. Lists of fines and further directions concerning the Room Condition Report will be provided at Check-In.

If a student is locks himself or herself out of a dorm room, there will be a fine imposed. Students could also face additional fines. Please review the handbook for further information.

Visitation: During visitation hours residents are permitted to have visitors including students from other rooms, off-campus and non-students with their roommates or apartment mates permission. Visitation hours are 12:00am midnight during the week (Sunday- Thursday.) On Friday and Saturday evenings, visitation is 2:00am.

Noise/ Quiet Hours:  During quiet hours, no noise may be heard outside your room. Doors should be shut when stereos or TVs are on, or when groups of people are socializing. Voices also need to be kept low.  Courtesy hours are maintained 24 hours a day. During courtesy hours anyone may request that someone reduce their noise. The resident or room occupant must comply with reasonable requests.  Quiet hours are 9PM-9AM during the week (Sunday- Thursday.) On Friday and Saturday evenings, quiet hours are 12:00AM (midnight)- 12PM(noon).

Bunking/Debunking of Beds: Several loft kits are available for beds in Maurelian and LLC. Loft kits are available for a non-refundable fee of $50.00. The kits are first come first serve. Please see your Resident Assistant for assistance. To debunk your bed, please contact a member of the residence life staff.  

Meal Plan / Room Changes: All freshman will be assigned the All Access Meal Plan which indicates unlimited meal swipes for the semester in Alfonso Dining Hall. Also included, a $50 BUC dollars to be used in the Canale Café or the Buccaneer. Additional BUC dollars may be purchased through the business office. Roommate changes will be handled on an as needed basis within the first two weeks of each semester.

Consolidation: During the first two weeks of schools, students charged with a double room and not currently assigned a roommate will face consolidation. Students will be notified and provided a list of potential roommates.

End of Semester Check-Out: Residents will be required to return their room key at the end of the semester when the individual leaves for Christmas Break. You will return your key to a Resident Assistant or residence life staff member and the key will be available for pickup on January 6th, 2019.

End of Year Check-Out: Towards the end of the fall semester, letters will be mailed to the campus address of each resident. This letter will detail the procedures for check-out at the end of May. You must be out of the dorms no later than 24 hours after your last exam each semester.
