Dr. Mary McConner has worked in professional roles at different universities, primarily working with students and faculty from diverse populations. The practical experience that she has gained in regards to working with diverse populations and understanding different cultures has been an important part of her understanding of multicultural and international initiatives. Her professional and research areas include multicultural affairs; international affairs; diversity and inclusion; intercultural communication; and globalizing teaching and the curriculum.
Dr. McConner was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She enjoys traveling, reading, going to concerts, doing celebrity impressions, going to the movies, and helping students develop both personally and intellectually.

Study Abroad Global Ambassadors
Sierra is a senior from Lewisburg, Mississippi working on her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She is a student-athlete; a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and Beta Gamma Sigma; and involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She dedicates most of her time to playing softball at CBU, but she also enjoys raising money for Autism Speaks with her sorority sisters. She has been to 23 states and plans to visit all 50. Sierra is headed overseas in October of 2018 to visit London and Dublin on a study abroad trip. She hopes to visit Greece, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, Norway, and the list goes on and on. Sierra’s hobbies include learning to play the guitar, going to the movies, shopping, and hanging with friends and family.
Ali is a current junior at CBU working towards a BS in International Business. Raised in Memphis, she enjoys exploring the ever-changing food scene around the city. Her sophomore year was spent in Aix-en-Provence, France studying abroad and became conversational in French. After the spring semester ended she spent the summer travelling around the Mediterranean Sea.
Ali’s hobbies include hiking, reading, gardening, yoga, and helping others get a chance to explore this beautiful Earth.
