San Sebastian, Spain - May 2016

Come join us as we travel to one of Europe's top culinary cities, San Sebastian, Spain, immediately after graduation in May 2017! Excite your palates and indulge your senses with the wonderful Spanish inspired culinary masterpieces students will both sample and prepare. Students will take multiple cooking classes by top chefs as well as taste numerous dishes from the top restaurants in town!

Course offered

The course offered will be Chemistry 105: The Chemistry of Cooking with Dr. Anthony Trimboli.This course takes an in-depth and hands-on approach to the chemical nature and transformations that occur during classic and modern cooking techniques. A study of basic chemical principles, the scientific method, experimental design, and method optimization will be employed to understand the effects of cooking processes on food.

Cost and Payment Schedule

Trip cost is approximately  $2,700.00 not including airfare, and will be based on 10 students per class.

Included in cost

  • 4 hours class credit for full time day students who register for the class as part of their regular load for spring 2018.
  • Lodging is centrally located
  • Sightseeing as indicated

  • Medical Insurance. An extra stipend will be charged for travelers over 24 years of age
  • Welcome dinner and Farewell dinner

Trip cancellation insurance is recommended, but not required, in case of an emergency on your part, as CBU cannot refund the money once it is committed to the trip vendors. There are many companies on the internet that provide this service, or your own personal insurance company may offer such coverage. While CBU has no connection with any such company, some previous students have used STA travel (www.statravel.com) and were pleased with it.   

A $300 deposit made by September 15, 2017  will hold your place. You may pay in increments OR pay in full by March 1, 2018.  Please contact the Study Abroad office to work out a payment schedule. The deposit will be non-refundable unless the trip fails to make. ?If trip fails to make, ALL money collected by CBU with be refunded. Payments can be made by check, cash or credit card to the Business Office. Checks should be made payable to CBU with a notation of the trip location.
