Interlibrary Loan is a collaborative service among libraries that enables individual libraries to borrow materials, un-owned by them, on behalf of their users. Current CBU students, faculty, and staff may request books and articles via Interlibrary Loan.

How to Request an Interlibrary Loan

Search for books & articles:

    1. Search the Library (WorldCat Discovery) for a book or an article. Expand your search to Libraries Worldwide.
    2. If Plough Library doesn’t have the book or article, but you can find a record for it in WorldCat Discovery, select the Request via Interlibrary Loan button and submit the Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
    3. You can also go directly to the Interlibrary Loan Request Form and submit a request, but we prefer that you Search the Library (WorldCat Discovery) first whenever possible.

    General Information

    • Copies of articles are yours to keep. Books must be returned to the lending library.
    • Items available to CBU students at Local Libraries are not provided through interlibrary loan. Students are responsible for obtaining the items from Local Libraries.
    • Delivery time varies, averaging 1-2 weeks for an article and 2-3 weeks for a book. We recommend you request an item 2-3 weeks before the material is needed.
    • If you are ordering books, we recommend that you order no more than you can read within the loan period.

Items difficult to obtain through Interlibrary Loan include:

    • Audiovisual materials
    • Newly published books and textbooks
