Christian Brothers University (CBU) has been recognized on the 2026 Forbes “America’s Top Colleges” list, one of only ten Tennessee institutions to earn this distinction. On the list, CBU was ranked #456 nationally. Forbes evaluates colleges based on return on investment, average student debt, and outcomes for graduates.

“Our commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers and lives of service is at the heart of our Lasallian mission, and this ranking highlights the impact of that promise, said Interim President Brother Chris.”

CBU’s strong outcomes are clear: 98% of the University’s graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within 6 to 12 months of graduation, far surpassing the national average of approximately 65%.

Career Preparation That Starts Day One

This success is the result of CBU’s distinctive approach to career preparation. Employers participate in a variety of recruiting initiatives on campus each week to connect directly with students. Through the Academic Internship Program, all students are guaranteed an internship, with about 85% completing one before graduation. First- and second-year students have the opportunity to explore career options through externships, while industry-specific networking events offer valuable connections with employers across various fields.

CBU is also the only university in the area to offer a career planning course for credit, ensuring that every student graduates with the tools to navigate the job market. Career coaching services extend to alums at no cost, while alumni themselves remain deeply engaged in mentoring and recruiting current students. Notably, 70% of CBU graduates stay in the Memphis area to begin their careers, strengthening the local economy and community.
