Christian Brothers University (CBU) proudly celebrates Vice President Ryan Flickinger and devoted supporters Bob and Paula McEniry, who have been honored with the AFP Memphis Crystal Awards for their exceptional impact on philanthropy and community advancement.

The Crystal Awards, hosted annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Memphis Chapter, celebrate the individuals and organizations whose generosity and leadership move our community forward. This year’s honorees will be recognized at the Philanthropy Day Celebration Breakfast on Thursday, November 13, at the Memphis Botanic Garden.

Outstanding Fundraising Executive: Ryan Flickinger

With more than twenty years of experience in fundraising and external relations, Ryan Flickinger has been named the Outstanding Fundraising Executive – an award that honors professionals whose ethical and strategic leadership has enhanced the philanthropic impact of the organizations they serve.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ryan very closely in my time as CBU’s Interim President,” said Brother Chris Englert. “He is a valuable member of my Executive Team with his ingenuity and steady demeanor. His strong work ethic and strategic thinking have been instrumental in laying out a framework for the future of CBU.

As Vice President for Advancement & External Relations at CBU, Ryan leads the University’s advancement, alumni engagement, communications and marketing, and career services departments. A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), he brings expertise in campaign planning, donor stewardship, and planned gifts.

“His remarkable achievements in revenue growth, team building, community engagement, and navigating challenges have set a new standard for excellence at Christian Brothers University,” said Margaret McDonald, CBU Development Officer.

Guided by Ryan’s leadership, CBU has achieved a remarkable 40% revenue increase, showcasing his talent for mobilizing resources. Among his standout accomplishments is securing over $30M in philanthropic investments, strengthening CBU’s mission to serve students and the greater Memphis community.

Outstanding Philanthropists: Bob and Paula McEniry

Bob and Paula McEniry will be honored as this year’s Outstanding Philanthropists, celebrating their exceptional generosity and commitment to giving. A CBU Trustee Emeritus, Bob McEniry, AFSC, and his wife, Paula, have long been dedicated supporters of education and community service. As a member of CBU’s Benefactors Circle, Bob has also supported scholarships, campus enhancements, and student success programs.
