The new batting training facility includes performance turf, covered tunnel cages and upgraded equipment storage to allow the team opportunities to improve its player development approach.

The project was funded jointly by the University and donors from its alumni and community base. “CBU Alumni want to see CBU Athletics win. It is that simple. We want to support projects that empower our student-athletes to compete at the highest level. The batting cage is just the beginning. Win-Bucs-Win!” said Michael Deutsch, CBU graduate from the class of 1990.

The Bucs believe the team investment will aid not only future recruiting efforts but also support current players such as J.D. Goodspeed, who said, “This new practice facility is more than just a place to hit; it’s a chance to support future generations of CBU baseball players compete at the highest level.  Our ability to get work in during bad weather will be a big plus as we work to perfect our craft.  This facility will help recruit the best players in the country and develop them to become a power in the Gulf South Conference.”

CBU Board of Trustees members, administration, donors, staff, and players will be joined by the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce at the ceremony. Further information can be found at www.cbu.edu/battingcages
