Biography

Dr. Cherese Tooley is the program medical director who joined the program faculty in 2014. She is a 1981 graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and is board-certified in internal medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies at Millsaps College with a major in chemistry. Dr. Tooley has practiced in emergency medicine for the majority of her career and is a staff ER physician at the US Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Memphis, TN. In addition to her duties with CBU and the VA, she also is the founder of Healthy Heart Ministries, a non-profit medical mission in Cote D’Ivoire, West Africa with a focus upon management of hypertension, heart disease and diabetes.  She does mission work in Jamaica as well.

Dr. Tooley is actively involved in the didactic phase of the program, teaching students in risk management and occupational safety, clinical skills, and physical examination. In addition, she is also involved in the recruitment and development of clinical rotation sites and provides liaison between the program and many clinical preceptors.
