2024 Commencement Exercises

Christian Brothers University will celebrate the Class of 2024 with an in-person commencement exercise on May 11. Seating is general admission and while masks are not required, they are encouraged.

Parking for graduates and guests is complimentary on the Landers Center’s property.
Doors to the West Entrance (Landers Nissan Entrance) will open for graduates beginning at 11:00 am Graduates should arrive no later than 11:30 am.
Doors to the commencement venue will open at 11:30 am to the general public. The public should use one of the following entrances:
• North – Landers Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge Ram Entrance
• Northeast – Landers Buick GMC Entrance
• Southeast – Landers Ford Entrance

Christian Brothers University holds one commencement ceremony each academic year in May. Students graduating during the current academic year (Fall, Spring, or Summer) are eligible to participate in CBU’s Spring Commencement Ceremony. Unless granted special permission, fall and spring graduates may not defer their participation to another ceremony. Graduates completing their degree requirements during the Summer Semester may opt to participate in the Commencement Ceremony for the following year. Summer graduate and all deferral requests must be made to the Associate Registrar no later than February 1.

For guests unable to attend in person, the 2024 Commencement ceremony will be live-streamed here and on the CBU YouTube channel. The live stream will be available at the start of the ceremony and will be archived on YouTube for viewers.

Countdown to Commencement

If you plan to participate in the commencement ceremony, you must attend the Graduation Fair. You will receive your generic announcements and other pertinent details. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to sit for a cap and gown photo, order a class ring, speak with representatives from campus offices, and more.

Academic Regalia Pick-Up & BBQ

Wednesday, May 8 • 11:30 am – 1:30 pm Or 4:30 – 6:30 pm

Regalia Rental: The university provides the student with rental regalia for use during the annual commencement ceremony. The regalia for all students includes a one-size-fits-all cap with a tassel and a black robe. Master’s candidates also receive a degree-designated color hood. Upon the completion of the commencement ceremony, all participants must return the rented robe and hood.  You may keep your cap and tassel. 

Traditional academic regalia (cap and gown) is considered standard apparel for graduates at Commencement. Fraternity and sorority stoles, pins, etc., may be worn during the Commencement exercises and the Baccalaureate.

Remember: Wear something with pockets so you can carry your wallet and phone. To make it through the area without incident or tripping, we recommend wearing closed-toe shoes and avoiding heels.

To ensure proper sizing, please submit your regalia sizes through the Graduate Information Form as soon as possible.

Baccalaureate Mass

You and your family are cordially invited to attend the Baccalaureate Mass on May 10 at 7:00 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The event celebrates the accomplishments of our graduates – Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s candidates from the Class of 2024. The Most Reverend David P. Talley, M.S.W., J.C.D., 6 Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Memphis, will celebrate the Mass.

Baccalaureate is a time to reflect on your Christian Brothers University experience. This event is for graduates and supporters of all faiths and degree programs. You will have the opportunity to process in the Cathedral with two supporters (family or friends). All graduates and their supporters should arrive by 6:30 pm and gather on the front steps of the Cathedral.

Families will have the opportunity to take photos and will receive a free professional photo at the reception after the Mass. We hope that you can make this event a highlight of your graduation experience!
