Congratulations to our 2026 Distinguished Lasallian Educators: Nick Peña, associate dean and professor for the Rosa Deal School of Arts, and Trina Spencer, operations coordinator for the Registrar’s Office.

The Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award recognizes individuals who exemplify the Lasallian mission through their dedication to students, education, and service. Honorees are celebrated for making a lasting impact while continuing the values and spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle within the Christian Brothers University community and the broader Lasallian network.

Referencing the Lasallian commitment to faith, service, and community, Nick Peña said, “Over the past 16 years, I’ve tried to live that commitment by helping shape the creative community at Christian Brothers University and in Memphis. What’s always mattered most to me is creating space for students to find their voice, take risks, and see themselves as part of something larger.”

Recipients of the award are nominated by their peers and must have served as members of the CBU community for at least five years.

“You’ve heard the phrase ‘Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve.’ It’s one thing to hear it, but another to truly embody it,” said Trina Spencer. “What makes Christian Brothers University special is the support you receive from faculty, staff, fellow students – everyone around you.”
