Only eight Tennessee colleges and universities made TIME’s inaugural “America’s Best Colleges of 2026–2027” list, and Christian Brothers University (CBU) earned a spot as one of them. The recognition places CBU among 500 institutions nationwide in a ranking that emphasizes what students gain from their education, from the quality of their learning experience to their success after graduation.
Developed in partnership with data research firm Statista, the ranking, released August 25, recognizes institutions for the value they deliver to students, evaluating student outcomes, learning environment and attractiveness to prospective students. TIME’s ranking
“Students and families make a significant investment in a college education, and they deserve an experience that opens doors,” said Ronald L. Brandon, CBU President. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff to helping students build a strong foundation for their futures. Our Lasallian values and mission guide that work, preparing graduates to succeed and use their knowledge in service to others.”
Student outcomes account for 75% of the ranking’s overall score, including measures of graduate earnings, degree completion and the financial return on a college education. The learning environment accounts for 15%, while attractiveness to prospective students represents 10%. The analysis draws on federal education and earnings data.
