Christian Brothers University (CBU) has once again been recognized among the South’s leading regional universities in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. Each year, U.S. News evaluates nearly 1,500 U.S. colleges and universities, recognizing institutions across a range of measures including academic quality, value, social mobility, and undergraduate programs.

CBU ranked No. 44 among Best Regional Universities in the South and improved to No. 12 among Best Value Schools in the South.

The University also earned a No. 22 ranking among Top Private Colleges in the South, a new U.S. News category this year that includes 84 institutions.

Continued Recognition for Value and Academic Programs

CBU’s ranking as a Best Value School in the South continues the University’s strong performance in a category that considers academic quality alongside the cost of attendance for students receiving need-based financial aid. That recognition aligns with CBU’s focus on affordability, with 99% of traditional undergraduate students receiving financial assistance.

The University also made a notable move in undergraduate engineering, moving up from No. 226 to a tie at No. 201 nationally among engineering programs at institutions where a doctorate is not offered. Innovative partnerships, including the university’s new 4+1 graduate pathways with Purdue University, offer students more opportunities.

CBU was also recognized among Top Performers on Social Mobility, a ranking focused on how successfully universities enroll and graduate students who receive federal Pell Grants.

These latest rankings reflect CBU’s continued focus on delivering a high-value, career-connected education while expanding access and opportunities for student success.
