Nick Peña, Interim Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Art in the Rosa Deal School of Arts, said, “This lab bridges the gap between academic learning and practical application, enhancing design education and equipping graduates to be more versatile, skilled, and prepared for a wide range of career paths.” He emphasized the lab’s role in transforming the CBU graphic design program by providing hands-on experience with industry-relevant tools.

The Innovation Lab, funded by a generous AutoZone Environmental Entrepreneurism grant, is the result of a year and a half of meticulous planning. Melinda Posey, Associate Professor of Graphic Design, noted, “This lab represents a significant leap forward for our program, bridging the gap between design and tangible creation and empowering students to expand their design horizons as they enter their professional fields.”

The grand opening took place on Tuesday, November 12. Guests were invited to tour the facility and witness live demonstrations of the equipment, offering a firsthand look at the possibilities the new space affords.

The CBU Innovation Lab is expected to make a lasting impact not only on students but also on the local community, enhancing opportunities for creativity, skill-building, and industry engagement right on campus.
