2022 Commencement Exercises

Saturday, May 14 | 10:00 am Renasant Convention Center (255 N Main St., Memphis, TN)

Christian Brothers University will celebrate the Class of 2022 with in-person commencement exercises on May 14. All guests must have a printed ticket in order to enter and be seated. Seating is general admission and while masks are not required, they are encouraged.

Parking for graduates and guests is complimentary in the parking garage connected to the Renasant Convention Center. The code word for complimentary parking is “LASALLIAN.” In the event that parking in the garage is not available, guests may find parking spots in the various lots around the Convention Center. Please carry cash, as many lots do not accept credit or debit card payments. Doors to the commencement venue will open at 9:00 am to the general public.

Christian Brothers University holds one commencement ceremony each academic year in May. Students graduating during the current academic year (Fall, Spring or Summer) are eligible to participate in CBU’s Spring Commencement Ceremony. Graduates completing their degree requirements during the Summer Semester may also opt to participate in the Commencement Ceremony for the following year by making a special request with the Associate Registrar no later than February 1.


For guests without a ticket, the 2022 Commencement ceremony will be livestreamed at here and on the CBU YouTube channel. The livestream will be available at the start of the ceremony and will be archived on YouTube for viewers.

Academic Regalia Pick-Up

Tuesday, May 10 • 11:30 am – 2:00 pm Or 4:00 – 6:30 pm
Canale Arena on the CBU Campus

Regalia Rental: The university provides the student with rental regalia for use during the annual commencement ceremony. The regalia for all students includes a one-size-fits-all cap with tassel and a black robe. Master’s candidates also receive a degree-designated color hood. Upon the completion of the commencement ceremony, all participants must return the rented robe and hood.  You may keep your cap and tassel. 

Traditional academic regalia (cap and gown) is considered standard apparel for graduates at Commencement. Fraternity and sorority stoles, pins, etc. may be worn during the Commencement exercises and the Baccalaureate.

Remember: Wear something with pockets so you can carry your wallet and phone. To make it through the area without incident or tripping, we recommend wearing closed-toe shoes and avoiding heels.

Class of 2022 Buc BBQ

Presidential Recognition Ceremony (by invitation only)

By invitation only, this occasion recognizes students who have exceled in the classroom; within our athletic programs; and contributed to our Lasallian community throughout their time at the corner of East Parkway and Central.

By invitation only, this occasion recognizes graduates who have had a member of their family also graduate from Christian Brothers University. Hosted by the Alumni Office, graduates with questions regarding this event should email Torie Marion.

Baccalaureate Mass

You and your family are cordially invited to attend the Baccalaureate Mass on May 13 at 7:00 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The event celebrates the accomplishments of our graduates – Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s candidates from the Class of 2022.

The Baccalaureate is a time to reflect on your Christian Brothers University experience. This event is for graduates and supporters of all faiths and degree programs. You will have the opportunity to process in the Cathedral with two supporters (family or friends). All graduates and their supporters should arrive by 6:30 pm and gather on the front steps of the Cathedral.

Families will have the opportunity to take photos and will receive a free professional photo at the reception after the Mass. We hope that you can make this event a highlight of your graduation experience!
