We are encouraged by SACSCOC’s decision to lift our probation status, which is a significant milestone for our institution. However, this achievement is not the finish line. Maintaining full compliance with our accrediting body requires ongoing diligence to ensure that CBU remains academically strong, financially sustainable, and aligned with SACSCOC expectations.

In consultation with the Board of Trustees, the University is implementing measures to secure CBU’s long-term strength and sustainability. As part of our ongoing academic alignment efforts and in response to shifting enrollment patterns, we are adjusting faculty resources. At the end of the spring semester, we will take an important step toward achieving our desired 12:1 student-faculty ratio by reducing 16 full-time faculty positions. These adjustments are part of the University’s broader reorganization and strategic direction, which is designed to balance our operating budget and position CBU for transformation as we work to meet the needs of today’s students and today’s workforce.

No academic programs are being closed. Students will be able to complete their declared majors with minimal disruption, and we remain committed to ensuring that their academic paths stay clear and well-supported.

We understand that any reduction in faculty is deeply painful for the CBU community. Our faculty are central to our mission. These decisions are not made lightly and were reached only after careful review of all alternatives.

Our goal is clear: to position Christian Brothers University for long-term success while remaining true to our mission, our service to students, and our Lasallian values.

Together and by association,

Br. Chris
Interim President
