Center for Global Workplace Studies
The Center for Global Workplace Studies (CGWS) is a research unit within the School of Business that conducts applied research at the intersection of labor economics and business management. There are two levels at which CGWS contributes to applied economic research. First, the Center produces empirical research on labor markets and employment trends, generating new knowledge about local and regional workforce dynamics. Second, at the international level, CGWS contributes to the study of labor markets and industrial relations in Latin America and the Caribbean, building on CBU’s academic relationships with universities in that region and on the labor-economics expertise of the School of Business faculty.
Both levels reflect the interests of our student community and connect to the historical Lasallian tradition of academic engagement with the communities CBU serves, in the U.S. Midsouth and elsewhere in the world.
The purpose of CGWS is to produce rigorous, evidence-based research on labor markets, employment trends, and workforce dynamics. This research supports the School of Business’s broader mission of understanding how businesses create employment opportunities and how workforce participation contributes to economic development.
