The University is approved by the State Department of Education of Tennessee as a Teacher Training Institution. CBU is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association and the Tennessee Association of Colleges. Most programs are approved for veterans’ training.
Education Accreditation
CBU is approved as a Teacher Training Institution by the State Board of Education of the Tennessee Department of Education, Ninth Floor, Andrew Johnson Tower, 710 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243-0375. Undergraduate and graduate education programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), 1140 19th Street, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20036, (202) 223-0077.
On October 23, 2022, the Accreditation Council for CAEP granted Accreditation for all initial-licensure level programs offered by CBU’s Department of Education. These programs will be reviewed again in 2029. CBU’s advanced-level programs were granted Probationary Accreditation. The probationary review has been completed and a decision will be made in Fall 2024.
Probationary Accreditation is granted when the Accreditation Council determines that an educator preparation provider (EPP) does not meet one (1) of the CAEP standards.
