A native of Jackson, MS, Bridget Sisney moved to Memphis in 2013 after graduating from Dillard University, a historically Black university in New Orleans, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Her move to Memphis was prompted by the opportunity to teach STEM in the public school system with Teach for America. Bridget enrolled at CBU and received her Master of Education in 2015. Her Capstone Project explored “The Effects of Mindfulness on School-Aged Children as Behavior Intervention.”

Bridget is currently the Senior Manager of Leadership Programs with New Memphis. This role allows her to spearhead the continuity between the New Memphis leadership development programs, create pipelines for recruitment, and enhance participant experiences. Bridget is also the owner of UniverSoul Wellness LLC, a holistic company which specializes in private and group yoga classes, wellness coaching, and doula support for expecting parents. This is a call that she does not take lightly due to her own belief of living a holistically well-purposed life, and also due to her compassion for the community from birth through adulthood.

During her free time, Bridget serves the Memphis community as an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated with the Beta Epsilon Omega Chapter. She has also volunteered with the Memphis Urban League Young Professionals, Junior League of Memphis, New Memphis Embark program, Sisters in Service Foundation, and the Melton Foundation.

My favorite CBU memory is Capstone Week, listening and supporting my peers as they presented their research and engaged in questioning with the audience. It was the culmination of all our hard work, and it was also the beginning of the next chapter for us — being servant leaders. Almost ten years later, and I am still working towards that path.
