Brother Chris Englert first met the Christian Brothers while attending La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon graduation, he entered the postulancy for the Brothers in Glencoe, Missouri and from there entered the novitiate, taking his first vows in 1974. The next three years were spent as a scholastic at Christian Brothers College (now University), where he earned a BA in Humanities.

He returned to his alma mater in Cincinnati and began teaching English and Religion for the next four years. Brother Chris then moved to Newport Catholic and taught English and Religion for three years. From there he served five years in high school administration as Dean of Students at O’Hara High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Brother Chris was then assigned to Christian Brothers High School in Memphis as Vice-Principal for one year and the next 29 years as CEO (principal/president). Brother Chris currently serves as the Auxiliary Provincial for the Midwest District of the Christian Brothers, where he assists in the ministry to the Brothers and the oversight of the ministries. He has also served on the CBU Board of Trustees since 2010.

As a current member of the Board of Trustees, I have followed the remarkable progress of the University. From the academic offerings to the capital improvements on campus, the school is committed to ongoing improvement for its students. Most importantly, CBU prioritizes an outreach to the underserved — the heart of the Lasallian Mission. Thank you to the administrators, faculty, and staff members who faithfully follow in the footsteps of St. John Baptist de La Salle
