September of Service
Calling all students, faculty, staff and alumni of Christian Brothers University – it’s back! A full month of service to the Memphis and Mid-South community. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to embody our Lasallian charism.
About September of Service
September of Service began in 2012 as a month-long, student-led initiative by Dr. Tracie Burke and the CBU Honors Program at Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis. Its goal was to partner with a different Memphis nonprofit every day throughout September—fostering leadership, Lasallian values, and spiritual growth through service. In 2021, as part of the university’s sesquicentennial (150-year) celebration, the concept expanded: participants were encouraged to complete 150 hours of community service in honor of CBU’s anniversary.
After a brief hiatus, the September of Service initiative returned for “7 Days of Good Deeds” in 2024 – 125 participants donated 505 volunteer hours in just one week.
How Does it Work?
Use the links below to sign-up for one or multiple service opportunities. Make sure your schedule allows for you to be available on the day and time you choose. There is a site leader assigned to each day and that individual will contact you at least 48 hours prior to your service with important details about where to meet, what to wear, and discuss transportation.
